Ozarks Guide
Public Water Access in the Ozarks: River Access, Boat Ramps and Fishing Access
Public water access in the Ozarks is spread across national parks, Corps lakes, conservation areas, state parks and local public sites. A place labeled "access" may be a gravel canoe launch, a full trailer ramp, a fishing dock, a river landing or several of those at once.
This guide highlights useful public access points across major Ozarks rivers and lakes and links to the public manager for full maps, current conditions, closures, fees and regulations.

How to use this guide
How to use this guide
Current conditions matter. Water level, dam generation, temporary closures, fees and fishing rules can change. Use the linked official page before driving to an access.
River landing
A river landing is usually best for canoes, kayaks, rafts and small boats. Some are gravel bars or primitive launches rather than trailer ramps.
Boat ramp
A developed ramp is intended for trailered boats. Ramp usability can change with water level, flooding, repairs and seasonal closures.
Fishing access
Some public sites are primarily for bank or dock fishing and may also have a launch.
Mixed-use access
Many Ozarks public sites combine launching, fishing, camping, trails or picnic facilities.

Before you drive to a public access
Check the manager page
Use the official link for:
- temporary closures;
- flood damage;
- launch-ramp usability;
- current fees;
- construction;
- seasonal access.
Do not assume every "access" is a trailer ramp
A gravel canoe launch, river landing and paved two-lane ramp serve very different boats.
Expect rough roads at some river accesses
Remote Buffalo, Eleven Point and other Ozarks river landings may involve long gravel roads, steep grades or limited turnaround space.
Check dam generation below major dams
Flows below Table Rock, Bull Shoals and Norfork dams can change quickly.
Check current fishing rules
Trout zones, length limits, lure restrictions and seasonal rules can change independently of public access.
